Weather-Based Shopping Tips for Augsburg
Spring (March-May)
Spring is ideal for a stroll through Augsburg's city center. Annastraße and Bürgermeister-Fischer-Straße form the main shopping axis. In unsettled weather, the City-Galerie, one of Bavaria's largest shopping centers, offers a wide selection. Look for light jackets for the often mild but changeable days.
Summer (June-August)
Augsburg's summers are warm and sunny. Maximilianstraße, the city's grand boulevard, invites you to stroll and shop. In the heat, a walk through the shady alleys of the Fuggerei is a welcome change. In the summer sales, you can find light clothing, perfect for a visit to the Plärrer, the largest folk festival in Bavarian Swabia.
Autumn (September-November)
Autumn often brings the "Föhn" wind, which provides clear views and mild temperatures. It's a good time to explore the small shops in the old town. As the weather cools, it's time for cozy sweaters and scarves. A visit to the Stadtmarkt (city market) is a must to buy seasonal products and local specialties.
Winter (December-February)
The Augsburg Christkindlesmarkt in front of the Renaissance town hall is one of the most beautiful in Germany. Here you will find traditional crafts and the famous "Engelesspiel" (Angel Play). For buying warm winter clothes, the large department stores and the City-Galerie are the best places to go. In the winter sales after Christmas, you can prepare for the cold Bavarian winters.
