Weather-Based Shopping Tips for Freiburg
Spring (March-May)
Spring in Germany's sunniest city is wonderful. Kaiser-Joseph-Straße is the main shopping street. The small alleys of the old town, the "Gässle," are home to many individual shops. Look for light clothing and sunglasses.
Summer (June-August)
Summers are hot. Sandals are a must for cooling your feet in the famous "Bächle" (small water channels). The market at the cathedral is a feast for the senses. The summer sales offer great deals on light summer dresses and shorts.
Autumn (September-November)
Autumn is the time of the grape harvest. Look for warm clothing in the shops for hikes in the nearby Black Forest. Konviktstraße is known for its exclusive boutiques. A warm sweater is perfect for the cooler evenings.
Winter (December-February)
The winters are mild. The Christmas market on Rathausplatz is cozy. A stylish coat is often sufficient. After Christmas, you can find good deals in the winter sales for the mild but sometimes damp season.
