Celle: Half-Timbered Romance and Heath Climate
The weather in Celle is shaped by its location on the southern edge of the Lüneburg Heath. This gives the charming half-timbered town a temperate climate with a slight maritime influence. Summers are pleasantly warm, inviting strolls through the picturesque alleys of the old town or admiration of Celle Castle. A sudden rain shower is never far away in the North German Plain, but the people of Celle take it in stride, seeing it as a reason to pop into one of the cozy cafés.
Winters are cool and often gray, but hard frost or heavy snow are rather the exception. The proximity to the Aller River ensures higher humidity, which can lead to picturesque fog in winter, mysteriously shrouding the half-timbered houses. Autumn is particularly beautiful when the surrounding forests glow with vibrant colors. The weather in Celle is not extreme, but rather steady and gentle, which perfectly matches the relaxed and historic atmosphere of this pearl on the Aller.
